“In Jahad Daneshgahi, we target increased reading per-capita”

Manager of Jahad Daneshgahi Publication Organization said that the center’s focus is on increasing the number of hours spent by every Iranian for reading books.
IBNA: According to the public relations office of the publications, Mohammad Solgi made the above comments at a ceremony held on the anniversary of the establishment of the center.
The ceremony was held in the presence of the officials of the organization like Alireza Zojaji, cultural deputy of the center, and head of the organization at its community hall on July 17, 2012.
In his address, Zojaji praised the activities pursued in the Jahad Daneshgahi Organization. As he said, the organization’s publication center is one of its most active sections which was established at the time of the organization’s foundation 11 years ago.
As he said, the center is not limited to publication and printing of books only; even though it has so far released over 4,500 book titles with many award-winning titles like winners of the Book of the Year Award or Book of the Season Award.
The center counts for one of the most prolific sections of the organization during the past few years by holding two festivals every year, namely, the Festival of the Best University Student Book of the Year and the Festival of the Best University Thesis of the Year.
Later in the ceremony head of the organization delivered a speech in which he outlined its activities since its establishment 11 years ago. “In terms of production, we have focused on publication of Jahad’s educational books; and in terms of distribution, we focus on dissemination and introduction of Jahad’s books.”
“We also focus on heightening book reading habits in the society by cooperating with various ministries and cultural foundations,’ he added.
Solgi further insisted that the organization’s activities are not confined to production and publication of books. “Some erroneously think that the center is limited to production and publication of books only while it is concerned with whatever happens in the Jahad Daneshgahi Organization so far as books are concerned.”
As he said, the center holds various gatherings with books and book criticism as their focal point. Moreover, camps for university students are arranged which are another engagement for the center.
At the end of the ceremony, some of the best officials and staff of the organization were honored.
