The cultural secretary of Book City said: Diverse books have been written about literature researchers. But the 13 volume "Contemporary Iranian Researchers" analyzes the works of the researchers in Persian literature and literary history on a more comprehensive level.

IBNA: The 13 volume "Contemporary Iranian Researchers" analyzes the works of 34 Iranian researchers in Persian literature and literary history, covering from Mohammad Qazvini to Ahmad Tafazzoli. The collection is compiled by Houshang Ettehad and is published by Farhang Moaser publications.

The cultural secretariat of Book City, Ahmad Mohammad Khani said: In this meeting that we are discussing the book, it would be appropriate to honor the memory of great researchers of the field who died last year; researchers like Seyyed Reza Hosseini, Mohamamd Hoghughi, Dr Mohamamd Amin Riahi, Dr Khosro Farshidverd and Dr Mohamamd Khansari.

Honoring the dear memory of late Dr Mohammad Khansari

He added: In the pervious meetings we have talked about other masters of the field so it would be appropriate to talk about the efforts of Mohammad Khansari, member of Persian academy. I have learned a lot from him both when we worked together in "Philosophy and Literature Book of the Month" and in Book City. He was always encouraging and always helped us as much as he could. He was very polite and modest.

Mohammad Khani said: Discipline and precision were two of his traits. Even though he did not publish many books the ones he did published were very welcomed. His book "Formal Logic" was reprinted more than 20 times and is still a major source for those working in the field of logic. His book on Arabic grammar and his translation of Aristotle's epistles were reprinted many times. Dr Khansari was a true modest teacher.

"Contemporary Iranian Researchers"

He added: "Contemporary Iranian Researchers" is compiled by Houshang Ettehad in 13 volumes. The first volume is about Allameh Mohammad Qazvini, Mohammad Ali Foroughi, Seyyed Hassan Taghizadeh, Ali Abar Dehkhoda and Ahmad Bahmanyar.

The second volume is about Abraheem Poudavood, Mohammad Taghi Bahar, Ali Asghar Hekmat and Zabih Behrouz. The third volume is about Ghasem Ghani, Rezazadeh Shafagh and Rashid Yasemi. The fourth volume is about Ahmad Kasravi and Saeed Nafisi.

The cultural secretary of Book City said: The fifth volume is about Abbas Eghbal Ashtiani and Badiozaman Forouzanfar. The sixth volume which is the largest volume is about Sadegh Hedayat and the seventh volume is about Ali Dashti and Nasrollah Falsafi. The eighth volume is on Habib Yaghmaee and Jalaleddin Homaee, the ninth on Mojtaba Minouie and the tenth volume is on Gholamhossein Mosaheb, Zbihollah Safa, Mohammad Taghi Daneshpajouh, Abbas Zaryab Khoie and Mohammad Moeen. The eleventh volume is about Parviz natel Khanlari, the twelfth volume is about Abdolhossein Zarrinkoub and the thirteenth is about Gholamhossein Yousefi, Mehrdad Bahar and Ahmad Tafazzoli. The fourteenth volume is the bibliography of the collection.

He added: Diverse books have been written about literature researchers. But the 13 volume "Contemporary Iranian Researchers" analyzes the works of the researchers in Persian literature and literary history on a more comprehensive level.
Mohammad Khani said: Ettehad has not judged the works of these researchers. What he has tried to do is to present the gathered sources and let the specialists analyze and criticize the works. This collection is a great sources for future researchers especially since we have less source books on some of the characters such as Zabih Behrouz and Rashid Yasemi.

The next speaker was Houshang Ettehad, writer and researcher, he said: Before starting I should mention that I have a master's degree in agriculture. I have done research works in my own field and in 1963 I translated essays in my field that were gradually published in magazines.

He added: But I had always loved literature and I followed literary works. I was familiar with the poetry of Abbas Yamini Sharif and later on I became familiar with western writers like Somerset Maugham and I also studied the works of contemporary Iranian poets like Forough, Shamlou and Akhavan Sales. These were the basis for writing this collection.

He referred to the qualities of the work and said: More than 9 thousand sources were used for writing this book. I have tried to provide the reader with the most information possible. Much has been written on Sadegh Hedayat but not much on Allameh Qazvini. In Persian language, no other writer has been adressed more than Hedayat.

He added: "Contemporary Iranian researchers" covers the works of 34 writers. A sample of each writer's work is added to each chapter.
