Metaphor is not just a literary figure, as it originally takes place in human mind and thought. Accordingly, the author of this book draws on the analysis Quranic metaphors in order to come up with new solutions for a better understanding of Islamic ideology.

IBNA: Hojatoleslam Ghaeminia announced IBNA that the compilation of 'Conceptual Spaces and Metaphors in Holy Quran' is in final stages and will be released in the future by Publication Organization of Islamic Thought & Culture Research Institute.

He added: "Conceptual metaphor is a basic issue in cognitive linguistics. From this point of view, metaphor goes beyond a literary figure because it takes place in human mind and thought."

Ghaeminia continued: "Metaphors that are formed in the literary domain, have originally taken place in human mind and are then leaked to other domains like literature."

"In this book I have examined the possibility of reading Quranic metaphors as conceptual metaphors and their implications. For instance, there is a verse in Quran stating that 'God is Light' that is a linguistic metaphor in surface. But taking it as a conceptual metaphor, we realize that in order to be able to perceive the relationship of God to the universe we should imagine Him as Light. In fact, light is a framework for thinking of God," he explained.

According to Ghaeminia, reading Quranic metaphors as conceptual ones would aid us to expand our understanding of God as well as our Islamic ideology.
