
A brief overview on the selected work in 18th Year Book Award of Islamic Republic of Iran
Academic achievements of linguistic knowledge in the book entitled "Iranian languages"

"Iranian Languages” is a book written by Professor Gernot Windfuhr, and has been published by the effort of Rutledge publishing Center. This book which presents the latest scientific achievements in the field of Iranian languages’ linguistic knowledge has recently been selected for the 18th year Book Award of Iran.
IBNA: At first step, the book "Iranian Languages”, introduced and studied logically the ancient languages like Old Persian and Avesta and then the Middle Persian languages such as Parthian, Pahlavi, Sogdian, Khotanian and Kharazmi. It then has provided the languages’ constructions along with the sufficient evidence and documentation.
After the author’s preface, a detailed article about the names of given Iranian languages has been offered, then Iranian ancient and Middle languages has been developed by a Harvard professor, Aktar Sherow.
Following this article, the Sogdian language has been presented by Professor Yoshida from Japan and Kharazmian language by Professor Desmond Dworkin has offered. The Khotanian Language article is also offered by the late professor Ronald Amrik and then the author discusses about Tajik Persian languages and Zazaki dialect, which is one of the Kurdish language dialects.
These two articles were written by Windfuhr and Paul Ludwik correspondingly. At the rest, more languages, such as Kurdish, Balochi, Pashto and Parachi and then and Pamirian, shaftian and Vakhian languages has been offered, all of which are among the eastern Iranian languages and are also very important.
The book "Iranian Languages” is written by Professor Gernot Windfuhr and is provided by the effort of Rutledge publishers. In this book the latest scientific achievements of linguistic Knowledge in the Iranian languages, are presented. Windfuhr, is the professor of Iranian studies at the University of Michigan.
The 28th Award of the Year Book of IRI ,and the 18th International Year Book Award of IRI ended at Tuesday evening (Feb. 8th) by introducing the praised and elites in Vahdat Hall.
