Reprint of "Persian Painting" at TIBF

Translated into Persian by Mahdi Husseini, the 5th print of "Persian Painting", a book by Sheila R. Canby, will be presented at the 25th Tehran International Book Fair.
IBNA: This fully illustrated book provides a concise account of Persian painting from about 1300 to 1900. Beginning with the materials and tools which enabled the artists to achieve their remarkable effects, Sheila Canby goes on to survey the stylistic development of Persian painting and the influences upon it of over six centuries of Iran's history.
The book's historical survey ranges from the Ilkhanids of the 14th century through the glorious Safavids culminateing in Shah `Abbas of the late 16th and early 17th centuries and onward to the European synthesis and decline into the 18th c. century.
Mahdi Husseini holds an M.A from Prat Institute, New York. He has penned several articles and books and has been teaching at different universities in Iran for more than 20 years.
Sheila R. Canby is a curator in the Department of Oriental Antiquities in The British Museum.
