Iranian translator Ali Abdullahi said that his most recent translation will be presented at the 25th Tehran International Book Fair. Träume von Träumen(Dreams of Dreams) by Antonio Tabucchi and Michael Ende’s “Mirror in the Mirror” will be displayed at the fair.
IBNA: Talking about “Der Spiegel im Spiegel” (Translated into English by J. Maxwell Brownjohn as Mirror in the Mirror), a book by German author Michael Ende, Abdullahi said: “The work will be released by Qatreh in Iran. This is the fourth book of Ende which I have translated into Persian.”
Michael Andreas Helmuth Ende (12 November 1929 – 28 August 1995) was a German author of fantasy and children's literature.
“Mirror in the Mirror” is a book for adults. It is a collection of surreal short stories. All stories in the book have their own protagonists, but are related to each other by the use of literary leitmotivs. None of the stories has its own title. Ende wrote the 30 short stories - according to the dedication at the beginning of the book - for his father Edgar Ende, whose artistic work (the book is illustrated with 18 of his paintings) inspired the short stories.
In other news, the Iranian translator talked about “Dreams of Dreams”, which will be released by Ketab-saraye tandis in Iran, saying the book was rendered from Italian into German. The Italian version was translated into Persian by Alireza Zareé, but I converted the work from its German rendition, he added.
“Dreams of Dreams” presents twenty short dreams Tabucchi imagines famous people might have had. The dreamers -- a fairly literary lot -- are: Daedalus, Ovid, Apuleius, Cecco Angiolieri, Villon, Rabelais, Caravaggio, Goya, Coleridge, Leopardi, Carlo Collodi, Robert Louis Stevenson, Rimbaud, Chekhov, Debussy, Toulouse-Lautrec, Pessoa, Mayakovsky, Lorca, and Freud.
The 25th Tehran International Book Fair will be held from May 2 to 12, 2012 at Tehran's Grand Imam Khomeini Prayer Ground with the motto of "A Quarter of a Century of Cultural Jihad".
