Reading a page of a book out of thousands and millions of pages is, for us, like looking through a window on brighter side of the world that is constantly calling us, tempting us to set on a journey with the frigate of a book for more and more adventures...

Hulago System

With a voice trembling with rage mother said: “You think I don’t know these Berbers? Or I would stay in a corner at home had I ever been hopeful that something can be done? I have heard so many stories about their murders and plunders since I was a little girl. I have lost two of my brothers that fought in Jalaleddin Kharazm Shah’s army. And now you want to introduce Mongols to me?”

“Why do you think we will have better days if we surrender having seen their murders and plunders yourself?” I replied slowly.

Mother bent her head down and said: “Good or bad, your father and many others say those compatriots working in Hulago system have promised our safety if we surrender without resistance. It is said that Amir Rukneddin has reconciled with Hulago and he is guaranteed his security -”

“And you believe this?” I interrupted her.

“What else can we do? Sometimes we should believe some words, as we are trapped with no alternatives. We should either fight and get killed to the very last person or we should trust these people, hoping to get released.”

I lay on the floor and closed my eyes. I was likely to dream as it was the safest place for me in that moment.
