Answering a question asked by the IBNA correspondent regarding the measures taken by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance to prevent the unauthorized reproduction and distribution of books, Salehi said: Ministry of Culture is following this issue in a number of ways; in the first step, Ali Jannati, the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance sent a letter to Ayatollah Sadeq Larijani, Head of the Judiciary Branch to set up a special department to take consideration of the rights of authors and publishers. He also added that Mr. Jannati had referred to deteriorating economic conditions of print industry and the opportunities provided for profiteers by the new technologies. And that since dealing with legal issues and prolongation of time dissuades publishers to address this issue, their rights are violated in the process and this inflicts damage on the print industry economy.
