Iran's Book News Agency (IBNA) 16 Mar 2019 - 20:01 -------------------------------------------------- Title : Belgrade University opens Persian studies center ‎ -------------------------------------------------- IBNA- A center for Persian studies was opened at the University of Belgrade by Iran’s ‎cultural attaché in Serbia and the Sa’di Foundation in Iran.‎ Text : According to IBNA correspondent, quoting from the public relations office of the Sa di Foundation in Tehran, the center opened at the ceremony attended by a number of Iranian officials such as Iranian Ambassador to Serbia Hossein Mulla-Abdollahi, the director of the Philology Faculty at the University of Belgrade Ljiljana Markovic (PhD), as well as other experts and students. At the beginning of the ceremony, Markovic appreciated the efforts made in founding the center asserting that the center will play a pivotal role in introducing and promoting Persian literature in Serbia particularly among the research centers and students. Following the session, Mulla-Abdollahi for his part referred to the increasing cultural ties between the two countries and expressed his gratitude to Markovic for her cooperation in founding the center and extolled the interest of Belgrade University s scholars in Persian culture and literature. He said that the establishment of Persian studies center is a concrete step for more mutual understanding between the two nations and added that by holding special programs and meetings such understanding would be even more strengthened. The event ended with unveiling the book The First Step translated into Serbian for students and those interested in learning the Persian language.
