Text : According to IBNA correspondent, explaining the concept of war films in the world, Tarafdari described the Sacred Defense in Iran and its cinema as a unique genre. He asserted that in creating the war cinema, particularly after the Second World War, the United States has played the most important role. Referring to the film Saving Private Ryan, a 1998-American epic war film set during the invasion of Normandy in World War II and Directed by Steven Spielberg, Tarafdari added: In spite of the permeation of antiwar cinema in America, we should admit that Hollywood learned and used the Sacred Defense lessons much better than us”. Tarafdari added that the pre-Revolution intellectualism had political and not native and national roots and it has not influenced the Iranian cinema much, though it influenced publication and visual arts. Sacred Defense cinema is completely a new cinema and it has no relationship with neither the war cinema in the world nor the pre-Revolution intellectualism,” the historian stressed. He said that the Sacred Defense cinema is technically as well as in terms of ideas and making an independent genre.
