Text : According to IBNA correspondent, quoting from the Public Relations Office of Iran Cultural Heritage, Handcrafts and Tourism Organization, Seyyed Ahmad Mohit Tabataba i, Secretary of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) Iran, spoke in this specialized workshop which was held in collaboration with the Library and Archives Center of Iran Cultural Heritage, Handcrafts and Tourism Organization. Tabataba I said In the past, there were no separate parts assigned for restoration in the museums. Formerly, professional restorers worked along with the researchers who studied history, art and archeology, and there were no separate sections allotted to restoration, until recently when experts were sent abroad for training. Tabataba I added that at this time, master and apprentice system that has long existed traditionally in Iran, which is based on passing the skill from generation to generation, is also practiced in this field. He also pointed out that after the Islamic Revolution and in the last three decades, we have witnessed a change in this area in the form of experts from other scientific areas like chemistry coming to this field without having the required expertise. Secretary of ICOM Iran added that the first restoration workshop was set up in Reza Abbasi Museum in Tehran which was founded in 1977.
