IBNA- Iran's Book and Literature House Institute has attended the online Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL) 2020 which opened on November 28 and will run by December 6.
The Guadalajara International Book Fair is the most important publishing gathering in Ibero-America which had over 828000 visitors last year. Sharjah is guest of honor of this year’s event. FIL is the largest book fair in Latin America and claimed to be the second largest book fair in the world only after Frankfurt Book Fair. It is also a cultural festival.
This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event is held via an online platform from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The permanent location of the fair is Exhibition Center Expo Guadalajara, Av. Mariano Otero 1499, Colonia Verde Valle Guadalajara, Jalisco, México
Representing the books and publishing industry of our country, Iran's Book and Literature House Institute has participated in this event in two categories of children and adults books, and is introducing the winners of Iranian book awards such as the Book of the Year Award and the Jalal Al-Ahmad Award.
FIL which was created 34 years ago by the University of Guadalajara is aimed at professionals and the general public alike, a characteristic that sets it apart from other book fairs around the globe. With business as one of its main goals, it is also a cultural festival in which literature plays a major role including a program where authors from all continents and languages participate, and a forum for the academic discussion of the major issues of our time.
Over 2.400 publishers from 47 countries and 328 rights directors have participated in this year’s fair and 238 activities have been planned for professionals. It should be noted as well that Guadalajara, Mexico has been designated as the World Book Capital of 2022.
