IBNA- Fariborz Ra'ees-Dana (PhD), an eminent Iranian economist, socialist, activist, university professor, and a member of the Iranian Writers' Association died of COVID-19 complications in Tehran Pars Hospital on March 16. He was 71.
According to IBNA correspondent, born in 1948, the scholar graduated from The London School of Economics, he was an ardent advocate of democracy and working class in Iran who carried out many research projects on their condition as well as other Iranian deprived people.
Ra'ees-Dana authored several books such as ‘Money and Inflation’, ‘Political Economy of Development’, ‘Applied Development Economics, and Globalization’, ‘Conversations on Contemporary Iranian Poetry: Social and Political Background’, ‘Conversations on Literature’ and ‘Essence of Intellectualism’. He has also a book of poetry titled ‘A Memory of a Fantasy’.
The expert also translated several books from English into Persian such as ‘Violence Today: Actually Existing Barbarism?’ edited by Leo Panitch and Colin Leys.
