IBNA- The book, 'Persia, the Land of the Imams - A Narrative of Travel and Resident ‎‎1871 to 1885' (1886) by American missionary James Basset has been published in ‎Persian in the city of Mashhad.‎

According to IBNA correspondent, the book authored by a missionary for the Presbyterian board which as well as religious beliefs of Iranians, portrays the social and economic situation of Iran at that time has been translated by Navid Fazel Bakhsheshi and released by Beh-Nashr in 384 pages and 1000 copies.  
 
In 1872, under the auspices of the American Mission Board, James Basset founded the first American mission at Tehran, Iran. Under his supervision other mission stations were founded, and in 1882 he became senior missionary and head of the Eastern Mission of Persia.
 
Basset wrote a volume of ‘Hymns in Persian’ (1875). He also wrote ‘A Grammatical Note on the Simnuni Dialects of the Persian’, ‘Among the Turcomans’ (1880), and ‘Persia, Eastern Mission’ (1890).
