‎‘The Story of Antigone’, epical story’s new version ‎

IBNA- ‘The Story of Antigone’ by Ali Smith a recreation of Sophocles’ epical story ‎basically for children and young adults has been translated into Persian and released.‎

According to IBNA correspondent, this tragedy of death and freedom of spirit has been translated into Persian by Vahid Ziayi and released by Negargar Publishing in 102 pages and 1000 copies.
The Persian translator said of this work that ALi Smith has rewritten Sophocles’‎ story and by bringing characters to the story has authorized the reader to define the viewpoint of the story.  
‘The Story of Antigone’ reads: “When two brothers, Eteocles and Polynices, die in a vicious battle over the crown of Thebes, the new ruler, King Creon, decides that Eteocles will be buried as a hero, while Polynices will be left outside as a feast for the dogs and crows.
But the young Antigone, daughter of Oedipus, will defy the cruel tyrant and attempt to give her brother the burial he deserves. This simple act of love and bravery will set in motion a terrible course of events that will reverberate across the entire kingdom...”
