Book House CEO meets authors and publishers of Yazd
According to IBNA correspondent, Hosseinipour said: “This year, the city of Yazd has been selected as Iran’s Book Capital and it adds to our responsibility.”
He then met a Yazdi writer and publisher of books for children and young adults Babak Saberi who said: “We publish our books by purchasing copyrights from foreign publishers. Some of these books are religious English and Arabic books.”
“The major part of our work relates to Arab world and books of their eminent writers such as Zakaria Tamer who has unique books and through ties with him, I have tried to pick and publish suitable books for children and young adults,” he said.
"Several of my own books have been published in Lebanon. One of them titled ‘The Big Friend’ was released in Germany and selected as the book of the year which is the source of honor and glory for me," Saberi pointed out.
"My other book titled ‘Ramadan’ was acclaimed in the US and Canada but here in Iran, it was ignored. When some foreign experts are informed that's I'm going to launch a new project they Express interest to cooperate with me,” the author added.
CEO of Iran's book house Institute said at the meeting: “Last year, we hadn't a children and young adults award in Iran's Book of the Year Award which was criticized, but we are going to make up for it."
"Unfortunately our publishing industry has been centralized in Tehran, but we should make a move to establish major publishers in the other Iranian cities as well,” he added.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Hosseinipour said: “In the recent Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) we held a program titled the Right of the Author and tried to prepare the ground for the observance of copyright in our country.”
