IBNA- The book ‘Big Ideas for Little Kids’ by the American philosopher Thomas Wartenberg presupposes that children are inherently philosophers, interested in rational discussions and helps them to develop their mental skills.
According to IBNA correspondent, ‘Big Ideas for Little Kids’ which has been translated into Persian by Arman Shoja’ and released by Siftal Publishing. The book explains why it is important to allow young children access to philosophy during primary-school education and describe a range of programs that use picture books to teach philosophy to them.
Wartenberg also gives advice on how to construct a 'learner-centered' classroom, in which children discuss philosophical issues with one another as they respond to open-ended questions by saying whether they agree or disagree with what others have said.
Thomas E. Wartenberg is a philosophy professor at Mount Holyoke College. his main areas of active research are the philosophy of film, philosophy for children, and the philosophy of art.
‘Big Ideas for Little Kids’ in Persian has been published in 206 pages and 500 copies.
