IBNA- Iranian poet and scholar Mohammad-Reza Shafi’ei Kadkani has written and published a recension on the Persian literary masterpiece ‘Tazkirat al-Awliya’ (Biographies of the Saints) by legendary Iranian Sufi mystic and poet Attar.
According to IBNA correspondent, Kadkani, also a university professor has worked on ‘Tazkirat al-Awliya’ for over 30 years. He has authored an introduction as well as further accounts in this two-volume book which will be released by Sokhan Publishing in Tehran.
This version will be unveiled at the ceremony at the upcoming 32nd Tehran International Book Fair scheduled for April 24 to May 4 in Tehran. The ceremony will be held in cooperation of Sokhan Publishing with Iran’s National Library and Archives, Bukhara Magazine, Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, and the Secretariat of the Book of the Year Award at Iran’s Book House Institute (IBHI).
‘Tazkirat al-Awliya’ is a 72-chapter book written by Attar of Nishapur about the life of famous Sufis and their miraculous deeds (Karamats). This is the only surviving work of Attar written as prose.
