IBNA- Three Iranians, writer Farhad Hassanzadeh, translator Farzad Farbod and illustrator Nazanin Abbasi were honored at the 36th International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) Congress in Athens.
Writer Farhad Hassanzadeh was honored for the novel ‘Call me Ziba’ which is the story of a fifteen-year-old girl named Ziba who is living in an orphanage. Her father is hospitalized due to mental disorders, and her mother is also married to another man. Her father calls her on an autumn day and asks for her assistance to get him out of the mental hospital.
Farbod won the honor for translation of the book ‘The Ocean at the End of the Lane’ by Neil Gaiman. Like other books by Gaiman, this is a work of fantasy in which the life story of a young boy trapped in a strange situation is narrated.
Illustrator Nazanin Abbasi received the honor for the book ‘Caution! The Risk of Attack by Mice and Others… ‘, written by Sayyed Ali Shoja`i published by Neyestan Publications. It is an allegorical and highly reflective story for children and adolescents which narrates in a simple language, a spectacular and fascinating story of mice attacking rural people.
