IBNA- In a ceremony for honoring winners of “Book as New Year Gift Project”, Deputy Culture Minister Abbas Salehi said that This project respects readership’s choice and will continue this summer.
According to IBNA correspondent, the ceremony of honoring the winners of “Book as New Year Gift” was held on June 1 at Iran’s House of Literati (Sara ye Ahl-e Qalam) with Seyyed Abbas Salehi, Deputy Minister of Culture and Islamic guidance, Majid Gholami Jalisseh, CEO of the Book house Institute, Mahmoud Amouzegar, Chairman of Tehran Publishers and Booksellers Association and a number of cultural figures and bibliophiles in attendance.
At the event, Seyyed Mahmoud Salehi stated: “Booksellers issue was a very important topic as they constitute a significant link in the written chain of the country; the weakness of this link could disrupt the entire chain.” Stating that there must be efforts to strengthen bookstores, he said: “Nothing brilliant happens in the written issue without having prosperous bookshops.”
He said that a remarkable part of the plans of the Deputy Minister of Culture in the field of publishing of the country was aimed at prospering the bookshops. Among the events happening in this area was the project “Book as New Year Gift” which started last year during the Book Week as a “Bookstore as large as Iran”.
