IBNA- Chairman of the board of Iran’s Printing and Packaging Industry Exporters Union said that the relocation of Tehran International Book Fair to Shahr-e Aftab will promote book export to other countries.
In an interview with IBNA, Babak Abedini, Chairman of the board of Printing and Packaging Industry of Iran talked about his expectations of book industry management in 2016 and said: “The government should pay more attention to the economy of publishing and books as it provides the interest of both producers and consumers of books.
It’s also necessary for the new Majlis (Parliament) to take serious measures to promote books and reading and consider an appropriate budget for this purpose,” he said.
He added that the cultural community needs reading and said: “Books are the first items which are removed from the household basket and due to economic reasons, publishers reduce their book production. In such circumstances, the government should think of serious solutions for the arrival of books in the families.”
Safa Printing Manager stressed on paying attention to the content of the books and said: “I hope that the issue of copyright is better observed this year and the investors and domestic and foreign publishers are state-sponsored to protect the content of their products. The government should give good points to the publishers and producers of books, for instance, publishers must be able to attend the domestic and foreign exhibitions at a small cost, as this provides the ground for the promotion of the country’s publishing market.”
