IBNA- Deputy director of the Book City Cultural Institute Ali Asghar Mohammad-Khani, pointed to the significance of honoring the late Persian language scholar Abolhassan Najafi announcing that a literature award will be held in his name.
In an interview with IBNA, Mohammad-Khani said that this award ceremony is scheduled to be held in January 2017 by the Book City Cultural Institute in Tehran.
“Unfortunately, the literary society of Iran lost one of its most precious treasures Abolhassan Najafi this year. We and all members of society have a duty to pay tribute to this great man of Persian literature,” he said.
For this purpose, the Book City Cultural Institute will organize Abolhassan Najafi Literature Award to select the best short stories and novels which have been translated into Persian. The closing ceremony of this event is slated for 22 January 2017 coinciding with the death anniversary of this great Persian language professor, linguist and translator.
Mohammad-Khani referred to the strong demand for good translations of foreign books into Persian and said that unfortunately the quality of translations has been reduced in recent years and this award will be an incentive for young and talented translators to prove themselves.
The jury panel will feature Iranian experts Zia Movahed, Hossein Ma’soumi Hamadani, Abdollah Kosari, Mahasti Bahraini Mojdeh Daqiqi and Mahmoud Hosseini-Zad. Call for participation in this festival will be issued soon by the the Book City Cultural Institute.
