IBNA- On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Sacred Defense (the war Iraq imposed on Iran in 1980), the book 'The Proud Palms', an oral history of an Iranian army officer of the event has been published.
Featuring the oral history of Colonel Fereydoun Bahadori, an Iranian army force in Iranian Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, the book has been penned by Hamid Reza Safaei Nasrabad.
It has been published by the General Directorate for the Preservation and Release of the Sacred Defense values of the province in 184 pages. Colonel Bahadori is one of the outstanding Iranian officers who was on the frontlines of the battle from the first days of the imposed war
'The Proud Palms' will be unveiled at a ceremony to be attended by the representative of the Supreme Leader Seyyed Ali Khameneiin in the province, the governor, senior military commanders and several officials in Yasuj, capital of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province on Monday, September 21.
The Sacred Defense in Iran refers to the war the former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein imposed on Iran in 1980. The war lasted eight years and caused numerous damages to both countries and the left many casualties on both sides, including those Iranians who were martyred, injured or were taken as prisoners of war.
