IBNA- An exhibition of selected works displayed at Biennial of Illustration Bratislava will open today in the central Iranian city of Qom and will run until July 10.
According to IBNA correspondent, quoting from the public relations office of Iran’s Center for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, the exhibition features 42 works by Iranian and Slovakian artists. The exhibition was already held in the Iranian cities of Sanandaj, Kerman, Ahvaz and Mashhad.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition will be attended by Slovakian Ambassador to Iran Lubomir Golian and Iranian artist Ali Bouzari.
Among the displayed works, 29 illustrations are by Slovakian artists and 13 works have been created by the Iranian artists. In this selection, 25 works have already received the grand prize of Biennial of Illustration Bratislava (BIB).
The event has been held in coordination with Executive Director of BIB Zuzana Jarošová, in line with the UNESCO objectives, the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY), national commissions and the organizations relevant to fine arts to provide the ground for the appraisal and the development of the illustration works and meetings among the illustrators from different parts of the world.
Biennial of Illustration Bratislava is one of the oldest international honors for children's book illustrators. First awarded in 1967, it is one of the more prestigious children's book prizes today, along with Hans Christian Andersen Award.
Until now, Iranian artists Nour al-Din Zarinkelk, Farshid Mesghali, Behzad Gharibpour, Abolfazl Hemati Ahuyi, Sirous Tahbaz, Mahnoosh Moshiri and Ali Bouzari have been among the juries at various editions of BIB competition.
