IBNA- A commemoration ceremony for the Legendary Iranian poet, thinker and scientist Hakim Omar khayyam was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Saturday to celebrate his birthday anniversary.
According to IBNA correspondent quoting from the public relations office of Sa’di Foundation, the literary meeting was attended by a large number of experts and fans of Persian poetry and literature in the Friendship of Nations Palace in Tashkent.
At the Beginning, Ja’far Mohammad Tarmazi, Poet and Director of Tajikan Center which cooperated in holding the ceremony spoke about the objectives of holding literally sessions in the center and referred to some points about the character and philosophical ideas of Hakim Omar Khayyam.
Following the program, two other experts, Argesh Achilov, the researcher of Uzbek and Persian literature and Pour Mohseni, Iran’s Cultural Attaché to Uzbekistan made their speeches about the prominent figure of Persian literature.
Referring to the image of Khayyam in the mirror of history, Pour Mohseni said: “Many researchers and Khayyam scholars consider him as a Sufi and Mystic. In a part of his treatise titled ‘On the Generalities of Existence’ Khayyam describes various seekers of knowing God and remarks that among the three groups of theosophists, philosophers and mystics, he prefers the third and stresses that “undoubtedly, this method is the best among others”
Following the session, a number of other experts elaborated on their views about Khayyam.
The ceremony came to an end after one of the participants recited parts of Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam both in Persian and Russian and a musician signed a number of Persian songs.
