‘The Iran-Iraq War, Supreme Defense Council in the Press’ is the title of a new book published in Iran by the New Page Publications.
IBNA: The work is compiled by Mansour Kamali with an introduction by Hussein Ardestani.
Arranged in 9 chapters, the book reviews the press coverage of the activities of the Supreme National Defense Council during the conflict years.
According to the article 176 of the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the council is responsible for ensuring national security and preservation of the Islamic Revolution, national integrity and dignity.
The book also discusses the council’s post-war responsibilities in the country.
The Supreme National Defense Council comprises the subsidiary councils of Defense and National Security and its members are the president, the prime minister, the defense minister, chief commander of joint staff of the army, commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps and two advisors appointed by the Supreme Leader of the country.
