Beyzaei invited to “Fortieth Day of Love”

IBNA- Noted Iranian film and theater director Bahram Beyzaei who is also the Visiting Professor of Stanford University will be honored at a ceremony titled “Fortieth Day of Love” organized for the artists of Ashura.
According to IBNA correspondent, the ceremony which is scheduled for October 21 by Iran’s Library and Documents Organization in Tehran pays tribute to the artists who have created works during the last 100 years on the Battle of Karbala
and Epic of Ashura
when Imam Hossein (AS) and his companions were martyred.
Forty works in various fields of culture and arts such as Writing and Research, Visual and Drawing Arts, Dramatic Arts, Music and Literature which are related to Ashura will be extolled. Bayzaei
will be honored for his screenplay ‘The Fateful Day’ which was made into an Iranian film in 1994.
Beyzaei left Iran in 2010 at the invitation of Stanford University, and has since been the Daryabari Visiting Professor of Iranian Studies, teaching courses in Persian theatre, cinema and mythology. There he has given workshops on the ‘Shahnameh’, the history of Iranian performing arts, Iranian as well as Semitic myths, etc. He has also staged several of his plays including his nine-hour ‘Tarabnameh’.
