Durkheim’s ideas on suicide to be reviewed in Tehran

IBNA- The ideas of noted French sociologist Émile Durkheim on suicide during peace will be discussed at a meeting in the cultural thought center of Iran’s National Library today.
According to IBNA correspondent, the meeting will be held by scientific department of Iranian Sociology Association. The event will be attended by sociologist and university professor Ahmad Bukharaei, President of the Iranian Association of Social Work and Seyyed Hassan Mousavi Chalak, researcher of social and urban studies of Iran.
Ardeshir Bahrami , researcher and activist for women's rights Parvin Zabihi, and Director of Iranian Sociological Association Sirvan Mahoudi are among the other experts who will participate in the discussion.
’s book, ‘Suicide’
(French: Le suicide) written in 1897 was the first methodological study of a social fact in the context of society. It is ostensibly a case study of suicide, a publication unique for its time that provided an example of what the sociological monograph should look like.
The meeting is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m.
