According to IBNA correspondent, Wenxuan, a winner of Hans Christian Andersen Award visited the Chinese stand at the 32nd Tehran International Book Fair on Thursday and stated that the closer medium for conveying philosophy is comic strip and prior to the formation of comic strip, the human mind could not reasonably understand philosophical subjects.

“Nowadays, through comic strips, even children are able to understand philosophy and find answers for the questions for which, we adults have to study so many books and articles,” he said.

Wenxuan is the vice president of Beijing Writers Association. He is also a professor and doctoral tutor at Peking University. His novels have been translated into English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Serbian.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Chinese writer referred to the role of poetry in Iranian literature: “It is very interesting that ancient Iranian bards have elaborated on history through poetry. I have read ‘Shahnameh’ by Ferdowsi which is one of the best examples. Moreover, ‘One Thousand and One Nights’ is another influential work on history which is known by the entire world. I’m also interested in the films of [the late] Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami.”
