IBNA- The illustrated book, ‘Nietzsche and the Icon of Übermensch in Contemporary ‎Art’ by Iranian writer Abdul-Hossein Pirouz published.‎
According to IBNA correspondent, regarding the publication of ideas by German philosopher, poet and cultural critic Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche in the late 19th century and early 20th century, particularly the idea of Übermensch (Overman or Superman) a new wave of pictorial art centered on the iconography of ‎Supermen was formed which is still continuing.

The book describes that unlike the usual procedure of introducing artworks, the iconography of Superman has not been addressed to a few art connoisseurs at galleries and art universities, but has been presented within the framework of popular cultural and industrial products such as advertising posters, tabloids, action films and computer games.

Here, eight key fields of popular cultural and industrial products have been taken into consideration: the propaganda visual art of Germany and Italy in 1930s and 40s; covers of music albums; covers of computer games; the illustrated history of bodybuilding as well as film posters of four popular genres including peplum (sword-and-scandal), superhero, commando thrillers and post-apocalyptic.

The illustrated book ‘Nietzsche and the Icon of Übermensch in Contemporary Art’ by Abdul-Hossein Pirouz (PhD) has been released by Setak Publishing in 238 pages.
