According to IBNA correspondent, Justenhoven, a Catholic theologian working in the field of peace research and Director of the Institute for Theology and Peace (ITHF) in Hamburg made his speech titled “Truth in Political Ethics”.

The German scholar said he bases his lecture on the meaning of truth in Christian theology and its difference with philosophical truth and will explain how in the history of Europe the truth has been abused.

He stated that truth plays a pivotal role in political and social ethics of Christianity as believe in God was founded and promoted by Christian church; on the other hand, philosophy has been a necessary means in rational discourse to gain a more perfect understanding of discovery of God.

Justenhoven further said this starting point in theology for seeking truth is the discovery of God but in philosophy, this starting point is human thinking. The other issue at stake is whether what we see or understand as reality is a constructed reality or not.

On the subject, the discovery of truth, he gave examples of Nazi government (1933-45) and communist government of former East Germany (1945-1989) who had the same values; were atheist regimes and regarded religious people as a backward. They established secular ideologies instead and claimed that there are answers for all questions of human being.
