Council nominates Iranians for Christian Andersen Award

IBNA- The Children’s Book Council of Iran has introduced Farhad Hassanzadeh and Farshid Shafi’ee to represent our country at Hans Christian Andersen Award in 2020.

correspondent, after several months of consultation, finally, the Children’s Book Council of Iran
introduced Farhad Hassanzadeh and Farshid Shafi’ee to International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY
) to run for Hans Christian Andersen Award 2020.
Hans Christian Andersen Award is granted every other year by International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) which recognize lifelong achievement and are given to an author and an illustrator whose complete works have made an important, lasting contribution to children's literature.
The Author's Award has been given since 1956 and the Illustrator's Award since 1966. The Award consists of a gold medal and a diploma, presented at a festive ceremony during the biennial IBBY Congress.
Hassanzadeh was among the finalists of this award in 2018 as well. A prolific writer of books for children and young adults, he was nominated by the Council for “his life achievement in the field of writing for children and young adults.
Among his works are: ‘Love and Mirror’, ‘The Moonlight Guest’, ‘An Umbrella with White Butterflies’, ‘This Weblog Will Be Transferred', 'The Backyard', and 'Kooti Kooti Watch out You Don’t Catch a Cold – The Kooti Kooti Tales'.
Farshid Shafi’ee is an illustrator, painter and animator. As well as illustrating books for children and young adults, he has held several exhibitions. He has already won the Golden Apple Prize in Bratislava International Biennial in 2007.
