Meeting to consider the charisma of Hedayat’s work

IBNA- Attended by Iranian scholars, the meeting, “Magic or Taboo of Sadegh Hedayat” will consider the reasons for charisma of the works by Iranian leading writer Sadegh Hedayat.
According to IBNA correspondent, the program which is scheduled for Thursday, February 15 will be attended by the celebrated translator and writer Mahmoud Hosseinizad and Hossein Payandeh, writer and literary critic who teaches critical theory at Allameh Tabataba’i University in Tehran.
The meeting is the seventh program from the series, “One Hundred Years of the Iranian Literature” held by the art and literature department of Thought and Pen Association in collaboration with the House of Iranian Humanities Thinkers.
A towering figure of Iranian modern literature, Sadegh Hedayat is still popular among the Iranian readers 65 years after his death, even at times when his works were banned. He also was a noted translator and researcher. Hedayat’s novels and short stories such as masterpieces The Blind Owl (Boof-e koor in Persian, 1936) and The Stray Dog (Sag-e velgard in Persian, 1942) have been translated into many languages. The writer has also been the subject of a number of short and feature films both fiction and documentary.
The meeting, “Magic or Taboo of Sadegh Hedayat” is intended to observe the ideas in favor or against the writer and take an impartial look upon the features of his work, which have always been the subject of debate and controversy.
The event will be held in Khayyam Hall of the House of Iranian Humanities Thinkers on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
