Ebtehaj Night Program held at Calgary University

IBNA– An honoring ceremony was held for the prominent Iranian contemporary poet Houshang Ebtehaj as the first program from the series of “Bukhara Nights in Calgary”.

held an honoring ceremony for Ebtehaj
(89) on Thursday, October 19.
The event was organized by the Students Association of Persian Library of Calgary Persian Library in collaboration with Bukhara Magazine in Tehran.
The Director of the Persian Library, Mohammad Mansouri welcomed the participants and appreciated the efforts of the volunteers for holding the ceremony and stated that the main purpose of “Bukhara Nights in Calgary” was to pay tribute to the great figures of Persian poetry and literature.
Following the program, Secretary of the Calgary Persian Library, Anna Amani, introduced the activities performed by the students.
‘Bukhara Nights in Calgary’ commenced with broadcasting the voice of Ali Dehbashi, the editor of Bukhara Magazine, in which he expressed his pleasure over honoring the great contemporary poet and emphasized his unique status and great poetry in the contemporary Persian literature.
Following a review of various sections of Ebtehaj’s life by Setareh Sharifian, a volunteer from the Persian Library, parts of a video showing the Iranian literati, artists and members of Ebtehaj family at ‘Bukhara Nights’ speaking on the veteran poet’s life and work including speeches made by the late eminent poetess Simin Behbahani
, Yalda Ebtehaj, Pouri Soltani and Shahram Nazeri
. Then a selection of the lyrics attributed to Ebtehaj was played. The event ended with the playing of Setar by Mohammad Reza Qolizadeh.
