Iranian illustrator wins BIB’s Golden Apple

IBNA- Iranian illustrator Narges Mohammadi won the Big Golden Apple Award in Biennial of Illustration Bratislava 2017 held in the Slovakian capital.

According to IBNA correspondent, Mohammadi received the award for illustrating the Persian book ‘I Was a Deer’ written by Ahmad-Reza Akbarpour and released by Ofogh publications in Tehran.
The International Jury of the 26th BIB named the winners: Grand Prix: Ludwig Volbeda from the Netherlands for ‘The Birds’; Big Golden Apple: Narges Mohammadi from Iran for ‘I Was a Deer’, Maki Arai from Japan, Ji-min Kim from South Korea, Ana Desnitskaya from Russia and Daniela Olejníková from Slovakia.  
Furthermore, three Iranian illustrators Ali Bouzari, Hoda Haddadi and Hossein Sheikhrezai made speeches at the International Symposium of BIB. Bouzari was also a member of the jury panel.
The Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava 2017, opened on September 8 and will run through October 29. The event is one of the oldest international honors for children's book illustrators one of the most prestigious children's book awards today, along with Hans Christian Andersen Award. Artists are selected by an international jury, and their original artworks are exhibited in Bratislava, Slovakia.
