correspondent, the inauguration ceremony of the new Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Sayyed Abbas Salehi
(PhD) and an honoring ceremony for the former Culture Minister Sayyed Reza Salehi Amiri
(PhD) was held on Saturday with First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri
and several Iranian artists, literati and cultural officials in attendance.
Referring to the friendship and shared ideas between Salehi and Salehi Amiri, Jahangiri said: “This fact will ensure that the policies of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance will not change and whatever President Rouhani promised people in cultural terms will be realized.”
“Safeguarding our culture and identity requires us to review the principles and manifestations of Iranian Islamic intellectual and literary heritage in the first step and preventing cultural disruption in another,” he stated.
“This responsibility is rather burdened on the shoulder of Iranian intellectuals, artists and literati than the Culture Ministry and other governmental organizations and fortunately until now they have fulfilled that successfully,” the First Vice President added.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Jahngiri said that without cultural development, no other development would be possible in the country: “Economy and politics will be successful if only they are guided by the culture and the cultural development demands a powerful administration system.”
