Hassan-Zadeh to represent Iran at Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award

IBNA– Iran’s Children’s Book Council nominated writer Farhad Hassan-Zadeh for “Read with Me” project of the research institute Children’s Literature History, in a reading promotion program to receive the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award.

According to IBNA correspondent, three organizations: Center for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, the Children’s Book Council and the research institute Children’s Literature History are authorized to select the Iranian representative for Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA 2018).
The well-known Iranian author of children and young adults books Farhad Hassan-Zadeh has also been nominated for Hans Christian Anderson’s Award 2018, for his lifetime activity in the field of writing children’s and young adult’s literature.
Born in 1962 in Abadan, south west of Iran Hassan-Zadeh published his first book for children titled ‘The Adventure of the Fox and the Bee’ in 1991. To date, he has written about 70 books for children, young adults and also adults.
Hassan-Zadeh writes about disabilities, children affected by war, child labor, children without proper guardians as well as topics which are generally paid little attention to in the works of children and young adults.
He focuses on issues such as love, peace and the war disasters, lower social classes, people with psychiatric and mood disorders, and so on which attracted the attention of critics and experts to nominate him as a candidate for this award. He has received more than 30 awards in Iran as well.
