Views of art philosopher Arthur Danto to be considered

IBNA- The 6th Meeting on Contemporary Art in Tehran will consider the views of the eminent American philosopher and art critic Arthur Coleman Danto.
According to IBNA correspondent, the meeting is held on the occasion of the publication of the last book by Arthur Danto titled ‘What Art Is’ and particularly focuses on the writer’s view on photography and the relation between art and the human body.
The program has been organized by “the contemporary art committee” of Iran’s Academy of Arts in collaboration with the cultural research center of art and architecture and is scheduled for Tuesday, January 10, at 5 to 7 p.m.
A faculty member of Tehran University Mohammad Reza Abol-Ghasemi and a faculty member of Allameh Tabatabaei University will deliver lecture at this event.  
Danto is best known for having been influential, long-time art critic for ‘The Nation’ and for his work in philosophical aesthetics and philosophy of history, though he contributed significantly to a number of fields, including the philosophy of action
