IBNA - While visiting the Book House stand, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said that drawing people’s attention to reading books is a multilateral task which demands to be dealt with in media and outside.”
In an interview with IBNA
, Qassemi stated that some activities are not effective enough to change the situation, as at times small attempts can bring about big changes in future. Of course, IBNA cannot deal alone with the field of books, among the existing hundreds of media.
He further added that drawing attention to books and reading is a great task which needs to be tended both by the media and outside, and the problem needs a national consensus and the provision of necessary infrastructures for writing, publishing, distributing and reading.
Referring to the situation of books and reading, the Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: “Unfortunately the number of books and reading per capita in our country is not in a favourable condition compared with many countries in the world, and considering the increased number of the media, it is expected that some cultural issues such as introducing books and the analysis of their situation be better dealt with, but when we look at the media we realize that large gaps exist in this area.”
