IBNA- A critic of Quran translations and interpretations Hojjatoleslam Mohammad Ali Kousha believes Ayatollah Taleghani understood the spirit of the Holy Quran in his published interpretation, ‘In the Light of the Quran’.
Mohammad Ali Kousha
In an interview with IBNA, Kousha spoke on the scientific aspects of Ayatollah Taleghani and called him the father of religious modernity among the contemporary clergymen.
“All features of the leaders of religious innovation, such as Seyyed Jamal al Din Asadabadi, Sheikh Mohammad Abduh, Mohammad Iqbal Lahori and Ali Shari'ati can be found in Ayatollah Taleghani’s work,” he suggested.
“I believe the interpretation ‘In the Light of the Quran’ by the late Ayatollah Mahmoud Taleghani is one of the best interpretations which has been published in recent years, and he can, indeed, be considered an enlightened clergyman who did his best to portray a clear image of Islam in his book,” Kousha said
The critic of Quran translations and interpretations went on to say: “As I pointed out, the late Ayatollah Taleghani had an outstanding character and compared with his contemporary clergymen was more than half a century ahead of his time.”
“I have said many times that ‘In the Light of the Quran’ introduces the true meaning of the Quran in its real sense, because when I see other interpretations I clearly notice miscellaneous contents that are not relevant,” he added.
