Untold memories by Rafsanjani
IBNA: The book is compiled by Ali Reza Hashemi who told IBNA the book encompasses the untold complications of the final year of the Iraq-imposed war against Iran and the signing of the UN Security Council Resolution 598.
As the author said, a crucial part of the book consists of the private dialogues between Rafsanjani, who at the time of the war was Iran's then-Majlis speaker, and Javier Peres, the then UN Secretary General.

Hashemi added that the work on the book began last year as a part of the Hashemi Rafsanjani Memories and Works collection. During the period, Ayatollah Rafsanjani supervised the book's preparation process and added his personal views to it from time to time.
The UN Security Council Resolution 598 was the most conspicuous event in 1987, as said Hashemi. Moreover, different missions like the Beitolmoghadas II and Valfajr 10 along with the intensification of the political as well as diplomatic aspects of the war were among other significant events during the year.

Hashemi, who is Rafsanjani's grand child, asserted that with regard to the fact that Rafsanjani served as an influential political figure during the war and the Sacred Defense era, his daily record of the events at that time could be very influential in many ways.
Hashemi went on to reveal some of the resources of the book and stated that he made use of the documents kept at the Army of Guardians Research and Study Center, books related to the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran and many of the publications about the war in other countries like Iraq and Egypt.

He also reached for information in foreign media and news agencies to complete his book.

He further added he went through the foreign magazines kept at the archives center of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the statistics released by the Central Bank and the Organization of Programming and Budget, and newspapers like Keyhan, Jomhouri Eslami and Resalat. He also reviewed the sermons, interview, statements, and Friday Sermons of Ayatollah Rafsanjani.
The book is published by the Office of Ma'aref Enghelab and will be debuted at the 23rd Tehran International Book Fair.

The 23rd Tehran International Book Fair will be held at Tehran's Grand Imam Khomeini Prayer Ground from 5 to May 15, 2010.
