14000 titles annually printed in Qom

At the opening ceremony of the Qom Printing Exhibition, head of the print-house owners' union in Qom said 14000 book titles are published in the province yearly.
According to the news headquarters of the Qom Printing Exhibition, the opening ceremony of the showcase was held on Tuesday (June 7) at the printing guilds' community hall of Qom.
In his speech, head of the print-house owners' guild in Qom stated that the status of Qum as the hub for Islamic and Iranian culture has paved the way for the expansion of the print industry in the province.
Jahangir Rezaei highlighted the need for added emphasis on quality by print exporters and added that as many as 56 book volumes are published in Qom yearly.
Renewing the province's print industry is high on our agenda and within the next three years new machinery will be imported to the province, he added.
He asserted that the quality of print products have risen up since the past.
He further roughed out the exhibition's main targets and stated displaying the print capabilities of Qom and enhancement of print-house owners' activities were some of the main goals sought by the event.
"The first print industry exhibition of Qom is in pursuit of reveal the province's print industry potentials to other provinces and neighboring countries as well," he further added.
Head of the organization of industries and minds of Qom province also addressed the audience in the ceremony saying that the province is the mother of the world of Islam and Shi'ism and that it should be a exemplary in all dimensions.
Majid Avarifard expressed hope that the province will find its real foothold in the print industry of the country where internet websites tend to marginalize print industry and those involved in it should be cognizant of their progress lest the industry's doom is eminent.
He further called for a transformation of approaches in the province's print industry and competing with world trends in this regard.
He said each print enterprise should check up on their own figures to better devise ways to expand their work.
He went on to say that the print exports in the province too low for its capacities saying that of the $11m dollars of cultural exports of the province only %7 was made by its print industry.
The first Qom Printing Exhibition will wrap up tomorrow. Print, advertisement and public relations lovers would enjoy visiting the fair held at the city's permanent fairground.
