The first festival of International day and the anniversary of ratifying the law of the university's establishment was held on Sunday evening, May 29, in Tehran University's docs' center and central library. The ceremony was attended by the chancellor of Tehran University, Farhad Rahbar, the center's international and educational deputies, Deputy Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (MSRT), Arsalan Ghorbani as well as some foreign ambassadors.
During the ceremony, the chancellor of Tehran University said:" Tehran University, as Iran's symbol of supreme education, has planned many programs for attending international science and knowledge fields. The programs include communication with universities, libraries and using scholar's scientific achievements throughout the world."
As Tehran University is cooperating with 18 credible universities he added:" Tehran University's international cooperation includes exchanging professors and students, executing research projects, compiling books, articles as well as holding joint conferences."
Since exchanging students increases the countries' cooperation levels, he added:" Nowadays, foreign students undertake cultural roles very well in Tehran University, for instance I can point out to the book far which was held on the sidelines of the International day which was a symbol of the student's education."
He underlined:" Holding a book and cultural products fair in Tehran University indicates the potential of foreign students in the filed of thought and literature. As the process goes by it could be a great movement in Tehran University."
Moreover the center's international deputy, Seyyed Mohammad Ali Mousavi said:" Tehran University roots in Iran's 2000- years' old education and its establishment is derived form Jondi-Shapour University."
He said that on the sidelines, a book and achievements fair was held by foreign students from countries including China, Afghanistan, Syria, Cuba, Indonesia and etc which displayed handicrafts as well as Persian and English books.
Moreover Palestine's ambassador to Tehran Salah Zavavi emphasized on Iran's glorious history and added:" Considering Iran's strategic stance in the region and world, the city should have many great universities as Tehran university. "
Then Deputy Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (MSRT), Arsalan Ghorbani said:" Nowadays scientific discourse is the most significant science index. In many educational fields Iran doesn’t need to deploy students but considering the view of cycle management it does so."
