According to Soureye Mehr publication's news headquarters, Fortune told in Blood
and Journey to Heading 270 Degrees
are two novels about Saddam's imposed war on Iran formerly published by American publishers. Fortune told in Blood
is the story of two Iraqi soldiers who find themselves stationed on an isolated mountain peak with orders to observe the enemy's troop movements. As they watch the brutal destruction brought about by the intelligence they have gathered, their loyalty to their country and each other is tested.
This book was translated into English in the summer of 2008 by Mohammad Reza Ghanoun-parvar, the professor of Persian language and literature in the university of Texas. Journey to Heading 270 Degrees
describes Saddam Hussein's war on Iran in the 1980's from the point of view of an Iranian soldier who is somewhat alienated, and not a true believer in the war he is fighting. The novel is translated by Paul Sprachman, the Vice Director for Undergraduate Studies Center for Middle Eastern Studies in Rutgers University.
Sprachman has also translated Chess with the Doomsday Machine
which is written by Habib Ahmadzadeh. This novel is taught in some of American universities in the field of Persian language and literature.
These two novels are published in the United States by Mazda publishers and are available at Amazon.com.
