Serbian translation of ‘Stories of Majid’ to be unveiled

IBNA- Serbian translation of the well-known Persian teenage book ‘The Stories of Majid’ ‎which has been translated into Serbian and published will be unveiled at Belgrade Book ‎Fair scheduled for October 20.‎
 
According to IBNA correspondent quoting from the public relations department of Islamic Culture and Relations, the book has been published within the framework of a memorandum of understanding signed at a meeting between Jelena Trivan, director of Serbian governmental publishing, Službeni Glasnik and Mahdi Shirazi, Iran’s Cultural Attaché to Belgrade on translation and publication of Persian books into Serbian. They also stressed the development of cooperation on publishing more books.  
 
Welcoming the cooperation of Službeni Glasnik with Iran’s Cultural Attaché to Serbia, Trivan referred to the history of the ancient Iranian culture and civilization and hoped that further cooperation enables Serbian cultural elites to become more familiar with rich Iranian culture.    
 
 ‘The Stories of Majid’ (1985) by Houshang Moradi Kermani was a script which was adapted into a book and published. The main character, Majid, is an orphan who lives with his grandmother in the city of Kerman, Iran.
 
The book includes 39 chapters detailing the adventures, misadventures, and coming-of-age milestones from the perspective of this Iranian teenager attending the first year of high school. Majid works in a bakery during the summer and sometimes after school in order to supplement the money that his grandmother receives from her deceased husband's retirement funds.
 
‘The Stories of Majid’ in Serbian will be unveiled at Belgrade International Book Fair with its author Houshang Moradi Kermani in attendance.
