IBNA- The first collected poems in English on the theme of Ashura which is the result of ‎‎15 years of work by Seyyed Saber Marja’ee has been published.‎
According to IBNA correspondent quoting from the public and international relations department of Libraries, Museums and Documents Centre Organization of Astan-e Quds Razavi, Marja’ee has already wrote and published his first collection of religious poems titled ‘Random Pearls’ in India.
He regarded his poetry book on Ashura as a narrative work and said: “The work portrays the epic of Ashura as well as the Passion of Ahl-al Bait (members of the household of Prophet Mohammad) from the martyrdom of Imam Ali (AS) and imamate of Hassan Mojtaba (AS) to the martyrdom of Imam Hossain in 4620 couplets.”
Marja’ee stated that earlier a number of poets have focused their works on parts of the eventful day of Ashura; however, he believes that his work is the first collected poems in English which provides a comprehensive narrative of the epic of Karbala.
He stressed that the book has been composed during 15 consecutive years by drawing on various original sources about Ashura. The copyright of the book has been dedicated to the Central Library of Astan-e Quds Razavi.
Astan-e Quds Razavi is an autonomous foundation in Mashhad, Iran. It is the administrative organization which manages the Imam Reza shrine and various institutions which belong to the organization.
