‘Masnavi’, the bestseller of Cairo International Book Fair

IBNA- The chef-d'oeuvre of the Iranian mystical poetry ‘Masnavi’ by Rumi became the bestseller translated work into Arabic during the first three days of Cairo International Book Fair.
According to IBNA correspondent quoting from Egyptian news sources, the fifth edition of an Arabic translation of ‘Masnavi-e Ma’navi’ by Mawlana Jalal al-Din Mohammad Rumi was widely welcomed by the visitors of the 49th Cairo International Book Fair (CIBF).

The event kicked off on Jan. 27 and will run until Feb 10, 2018. Algeria is the guest of honor this year’s edition.

More than 850 publishers are participating in the 2018 CIBF, which shows a 120 percent increase compared to the previous year, the head of the General Egyptian Book Organization Haitham al-Hajj Ali announced.

The number of visitors reached two over 650,000 in the first two days of the fair and the organization has achieved a higher sales rate, up about 16% in comparison with the last year.

First organized in 1969, the CIBF is the largest and oldest book fair in the Arab world, held every year in the last week of January in Cairo, Egypt, at the Cairo International Fair Grounds in Madinat Nasr, near Al-Azhar University, it is managed by the General Egyptian Book Organization. The Fair is considered the most important event in the Arabic publishing world.
