Doha International Book Fair underway as Iran participating

IBNA– Attended by Iranian representatives, the 28th Doha International Book Fair opened yesterday and will run until December 5 at Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC).

, Doha International Book Fair is attended by 29 Arab and foreign countries. The focus of Doha Book Fair is on children and young adults’ literature.
The fair’s motto this year is ‘Towards Conscious Society’. According to the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Qatar, the event is to be held for a week which is of a shorter duration compared with the previous years.
The ministry has issued a statement as follows: “We have test reduced the fair’s duration this year and its gates are open to the public for only seven days instead of ten. Most of the world’s reputable exhibitions are held in five days and we try to reach the global standard.”
The Director of the Public Libraries of Qatar, Ibrahim Abdulrahim Al Buhashim, who is also in charge of the management of the International Book Fair of Doha, presented the media with news and information on this year’s event. As he stated, 82 publishers of children’s books, 241 Arab publishers, 26 foreign publishers and 24 foreign representatives attend this year’s fair.
More than 18000 titles of books will be presented this year, including 14523 Arabic titles and 2762 titles from foreign languages. The book fair has an online guide on Arabic and other foreign languages and includes titles and names of the publishing houses. All books will be sold at a discount of 25%. Germany is the Guest of Honor of this year’s Doha Book Fair.
Qatar International Book Fair is one of the largest in the area and has become very important in recent years due to the presence of various Gulf States. This event was first launched in 1971 and held once every two years. Since 2002, the fair has been held every year.
