Belgrade University and Sa`di Foundation sign collaboration MOU

IBNA– A collaboration memorandum of understanding was signed between Sa`di Foundation of Iran and Belgrade University to develop scientific, cultural and educational cooperation and research for introducing and teaching and the Persian Language.
According to IBNA correspondent, quoting from Sa`di Foundation, the agreement was signed in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages of Tehran University and other members of the college, as well as the Iranian delegation.
At the beginning of the meeting, deputy director of the International Relations Office of Sa`di Foundation, Mohammad Reza Darbandi, offered some explanations on the activities of Sa`di Foundation and stated: “The existence of Persian language and literature in universities abroad is very important to us because teaching Persian language plays a major role in developing Iranian general diplomacy and cultural relations.”
Pointing to the history of teaching Persian Language in the University of Belgrade, he said: “We intend to start the Department of Persian Language at the University of Belgrade this year on the occasion of the 80th year of diplomatic relations between Iran and Serbia, in cooperation with the Organization for Islamic Culture and Relations. We will provide you with all necessary assistance in this regard.”
Then Professor Liliana Markovic Head of the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade University said that all members of the academy are sincerely committed to expand the Persian language, and she added that the book ‘Hello Persian’ for Serbian students, which has been published by the support of Sa`di Foundation, has had a major role in attracting students to Persian language and literature.
