Over 4000 works submitted for 5th Jalal Al-e Ahmad Award

Secretariat of the 5th Jalal Al-e Ahmad literary prize announced that a total of 4595 works were received. The works are currently being evaluated.
Among the 1551 books submitted for the fiction group of Jalal Al-e Ahmad literary prize, eight books have been shortlisted for the 2nd phase.
In the group of literary criticism 7 books were chosen from 1071 books and in the group of documentaries 8 books were picked up from a total of 849 works.
The Jalal Al-e Ahmad Literary Award is an Iranian literary award presented yearly since 2008. Every year, an award is given to the best Iranian author on the birthday of the renowned Persian writer Jalal Al-e Ahmad. The top winner receives 110 Bahar Azadi gold coins, making it Iran's most lucrative literary award.
The award was first confirmed by the Supreme Cultural Revolution Council in 2005.
Aimed at promoting the national-religious language and literature of Iran, the award is named after Jalal Al-e Ahmad as reverence towards the late Persian writer.
The books published within a year before the award, are considered by the judges.
